I have continuously thought and analyzed the reasons for my not following the traditional style of what I refer to as "old school": (Stage 1): graduating high school, (Stage 2): continuing on to college, (Stage 3): getting married, (Stage 4): buying a house and (Stage 5): popping out some kids. I have completed stage 1 of this traditional style and from there, I have traveled into the unknowns and found what many would not find by traveling the traditional path in life. I tried the traditional college path and found I was learning more by trying out different schools in different parts of the nation; I tried the relationship thing and felt I was too young and inexperienced for a such a commitment; The thought of owning anything that makes me ground my life is horrifying at this point; Kids...well, those will have to wait until I feel comfortable with my being. What do we call the path in life of living the non-traditional lifestyle? I have heard it called being a free-spirit and also a "thrisis" meaning a crisis going into thirty. I will refer to my being as living a "modish life." It is through this blog that I will amplify what exactly this phenomenon of a "modish life" is. The twentieth century is bringing a new way of life for people in their twenties going into their thirties and it's time to amplify what this new lifestyle is. It's a lifestyle that shows significant concern for living out what you truly believe your purpose in life to be. It's a way of life that is gaining more and more presence and understanding in the modern era. There is a strong curiosity based on my own life living and I often get the question of "what if" from others who have gone the traditional route. The life I have chosen is a mystery to many and I'm ready to explore and amplify my situation to the world. It is with hope that others who dream of living in a non-traditional or modish sense will be encouraged to step out into the unknowns so they too can live their best life.
December 1, 2010, is my day of transformation. It will be the day I step out of the warmth of my cocoon and spread my wings. My passion is in writing and speaking and I feel most purposeful when I am sharing with others through written or verbal content. I will leave my job in corporate America to go out and do what I love. It has taken me throughout my twenties to establish this sense of purpose, but now I am about to embark upon a journey that not many have taken the initiative to do out of fear. Fear is most often what holds us to tradition.
I would love to hear and establish relationships with others who are also living a modish lifestyle. Please contact me! If you feel you could be an underlying modish or if you have questions or fears about stepping out into the unknowns, I would love to hear from you too!
